Anniversaries, Air Shows, Academics, and Ammunition

Josh and I celebrated our 11 year wedding anniversary by going to Portland for the weekend. We had planned on taking the train down but as we were walking out the door to drive to the train station (literally walking out the door) we received a call saying the train was cancelled. There was a big storm and there were 11 mudslides on the track between our Station and Portland. We were all packed and ready to go, so we just drove down instead. We had a great time exploring the city and ate a lot of good food while we were there.

For the last two years we have gone to an Air Show at Paine Field in Everett, WA. It is a historic airshow, so the planes are predominately WWII era. It is a fun air show.

For the 2016-2017 school year, Eli and three friends participated in joy school. The other mom's and I would take turns hosting a little class once a week. The kids loved it and it was a nice introduction to preschool.

My parents came for a visit in May. We went on a short hike to a waterfall called Skookum Falls. After the hike we built a fire and roasted some hot dogs for lunch. After lunch we loaded into the car and drove until the road ended, which happened to be a nice place for some target shooting. Eli, with a lot of help from Josh, shot a little .22 revolver for the first time. It was such a fun day being out in the forest with my family.

Please welcome the newest member of our little family. Elijah Clayton Conley was born at 7:11 am on Saturday March 16th. He weighed in at 8 lbs 4 oz and was 20 inches long. Six months, Baby!

Eli celebrated his half birthday a few weeks ago. He had an exciting day going to the doctor's office and getting another round of vaccines. Ok, maybe exciting is the wrong word. Traumatic or terrible would be more appropriate. At his check he weighed 18 lbs 1.5 oz (65%) and was 26 3/4" tall (95%). It's hard for me to believe how big he is getting. The picture below was taken the day after his half birthday. At the time he would still topple over occasionally while sitting but in the last few weeks he has pretty much figured it out. Josh and I are enjoying his relative immobility. He rolls around but still can't go much further than a few feet. Hopefully we will have a few more weeks before he starts crawling. He isn't showing any signs of imminent crawling but he changes so quickly that it could happen sooner than I think. In other news, I started playing in a volleyball league last week. To Give Sorrow Words

One month ago I found out I was pregnant. This was exciting news for us because getting pregnant is not easy around here. I have PCOS which makes pharmaceutical intervention necessary and it is still not an easy process. With Eli it took only 3 months on medication to get pregnant, but this time around the same medication was not working and after almost a year I was still without child. (Is that a phrase? I doubt it.) So I started taking an additional medication and we were thrilled when it worked the first month. Perhaps by now you have caught on to the fact that I'm using past tense when referring to a pregnancy that, had all gone well, would now be 8 weeks along. But all did not go well. Just over a week ago I had some bleeding after playing volleyball. It was late when it happened so the next morning I called the doctor. They wanted to see me that day for an ultrasound.
