Version 1.5

Eli reached the landmark age of 1.5 a few weeks ago. His doctor's check was today and here are his stats. He is 36" (that's right folks, 3 ft tall!) which falls in the 97%. He weighed in at 24 lbs 5 oz, which is only 30%. And his head circumference was in the 90%. So orange on a toothpick is an appropriate description. 

His world revolves around food, trucks, and balls. Eating is one of his favorite activities and he eats almost everything. He points out every truck he sees and it is often accompanied by either "vroom vroom" or "bye truck" as it drives away. He loves to throw and kick any ball he can get his hands on. 

This seems as good a time as any to post some videos from that past few months. The first is from early May and Eli is discovering the wonders of dandelion fluff. The second is from a few weeks ago and Eli was quite enjoying seeing himself on the screen of my phone. Who knew waving at yourself could be so very entertaining?

Please welcome the newest member of our little family. Elijah Clayton Conley was born at 7:11 am on Saturday March 16th. He weighed in at 8 lbs 4 oz and was 20 inches long. Six months, Baby!

Eli celebrated his half birthday a few weeks ago. He had an exciting day going to the doctor's office and getting another round of vaccines. Ok, maybe exciting is the wrong word. Traumatic or terrible would be more appropriate. At his check he weighed 18 lbs 1.5 oz (65%) and was 26 3/4" tall (95%). It's hard for me to believe how big he is getting. The picture below was taken the day after his half birthday. At the time he would still topple over occasionally while sitting but in the last few weeks he has pretty much figured it out. Josh and I are enjoying his relative immobility. He rolls around but still can't go much further than a few feet. Hopefully we will have a few more weeks before he starts crawling. He isn't showing any signs of imminent crawling but he changes so quickly that it could happen sooner than I think. In other news, I started playing in a volleyball league last week. To Give Sorrow Words

One month ago I found out I was pregnant. This was exciting news for us because getting pregnant is not easy around here. I have PCOS which makes pharmaceutical intervention necessary and it is still not an easy process. With Eli it took only 3 months on medication to get pregnant, but this time around the same medication was not working and after almost a year I was still without child. (Is that a phrase? I doubt it.) So I started taking an additional medication and we were thrilled when it worked the first month. Perhaps by now you have caught on to the fact that I'm using past tense when referring to a pregnancy that, had all gone well, would now be 8 weeks along. But all did not go well. Just over a week ago I had some bleeding after playing volleyball. It was late when it happened so the next morning I called the doctor. They wanted to see me that day for an ultrasound.
