Let the Hiking Commence!

We recently upgraded our baby carrier to something more hiking friendly. The inaugural outing was a little rough because Eli wasn't feeling well. We probably should have cancelled the outing but Josh and I were both excited to try out the new carrier. It was still nice to be out in the trees soaking up some nature.

Not so excited about this.

He really liked playing with my hair while we hiked. I had pretty awesome post-hike hair. 

Our next adventure was to Cooper Lake. It ended up being a bit more of an adventure than we anticipated when we took a wrong turn or two. It added some extra drive time to our day but the view of Mt. Rainier was worth it.

Once we got to the lake Eli had a good time exploring and throwing rocks in the water. Josh and I took turns fishing and each caught a fish or two. Josh caught two, I caught one, no pictures of any of them.

We are looking forward to more summer adventures! Our first camping trip with Eli is scheduled for the end of the month. Wish us luck!

Please welcome the newest member of our little family. Elijah Clayton Conley was born at 7:11 am on Saturday March 16th. He weighed in at 8 lbs 4 oz and was 20 inches long. Six months, Baby!

Eli celebrated his half birthday a few weeks ago. He had an exciting day going to the doctor's office and getting another round of vaccines. Ok, maybe exciting is the wrong word. Traumatic or terrible would be more appropriate. At his check he weighed 18 lbs 1.5 oz (65%) and was 26 3/4" tall (95%). It's hard for me to believe how big he is getting. The picture below was taken the day after his half birthday. At the time he would still topple over occasionally while sitting but in the last few weeks he has pretty much figured it out. Josh and I are enjoying his relative immobility. He rolls around but still can't go much further than a few feet. Hopefully we will have a few more weeks before he starts crawling. He isn't showing any signs of imminent crawling but he changes so quickly that it could happen sooner than I think. In other news, I started playing in a volleyball league last week. To Give Sorrow Words

One month ago I found out I was pregnant. This was exciting news for us because getting pregnant is not easy around here. I have PCOS which makes pharmaceutical intervention necessary and it is still not an easy process. With Eli it took only 3 months on medication to get pregnant, but this time around the same medication was not working and after almost a year I was still without child. (Is that a phrase? I doubt it.) So I started taking an additional medication and we were thrilled when it worked the first month. Perhaps by now you have caught on to the fact that I'm using past tense when referring to a pregnancy that, had all gone well, would now be 8 weeks along. But all did not go well. Just over a week ago I had some bleeding after playing volleyball. It was late when it happened so the next morning I called the doctor. They wanted to see me that day for an ultrasound.
