Road Trip!

10 am: I text Josh asking if he would be up to driving to Emmett to visit my parents over Memorial Day weekend. He says "yes."

10:30 am: I call my parents to see if they would be up for visitors. They say "yes."

11 am-5 pm: Do laundry, shop for essential road trip snacks, pick up our wedding rings from jeweler (they were being cleaned), and pack for 2 adults and 1 baby for a 6 day trip. 

5 pm: Take Dan, Ashley and their girls to the airport so they can catch their flight to California. 

6:20 pm: Finally roll out of Seattle and begin the 480 mile drive

7:30 pm: Get stopped on the freeway for "blasting" in a construction zone. 

8:20 pm: Finally start driving again

8:20 pm - 4 am: Driving (one stop for dinner, one stop for gas/driver switch)

4 am: Roll into my parent's house.

Before my initial text to Josh we had not discussed going to Emmett for Memorial Day. We were planning a camping trip and had been planning it for quite some time. In the end we decided that the weather was just not looking good enough to go out with a wee little babe. We really didn't want to waste the days Josh had off work so why not go on a last minute road trip? 

I'm really glad we made the drive. We went shooting, rode 4 wheelers, visited family, went to yard sales (not Josh), played games, and The Pants and I even managed to go on a date.

This picture makes me realize how much I miss open spaces. The Seattle area is beautiful but there are so many trees that you never get views like this. Oh Idaho, how I miss you!

    Sounds like you had fun! Wish we were in town to see you. That picture makes me miss Emmett. So pretty!

    How wonderful for all of you! Sounds like a great trip. Too bad Nana and Papa don't live on the way...maybe some day :)

    I totally agree on the wide open spaces. :) I'm so glad you got to go. Too bad the weather wasn't like this weekend's weather, huh?

Please welcome the newest member of our little family. Elijah Clayton Conley was born at 7:11 am on Saturday March 16th. He weighed in at 8 lbs 4 oz and was 20 inches long. Six months, Baby!

Eli celebrated his half birthday a few weeks ago. He had an exciting day going to the doctor's office and getting another round of vaccines. Ok, maybe exciting is the wrong word. Traumatic or terrible would be more appropriate. At his check he weighed 18 lbs 1.5 oz (65%) and was 26 3/4" tall (95%). It's hard for me to believe how big he is getting. The picture below was taken the day after his half birthday. At the time he would still topple over occasionally while sitting but in the last few weeks he has pretty much figured it out. Josh and I are enjoying his relative immobility. He rolls around but still can't go much further than a few feet. Hopefully we will have a few more weeks before he starts crawling. He isn't showing any signs of imminent crawling but he changes so quickly that it could happen sooner than I think. In other news, I started playing in a volleyball league last week. To Give Sorrow Words

One month ago I found out I was pregnant. This was exciting news for us because getting pregnant is not easy around here. I have PCOS which makes pharmaceutical intervention necessary and it is still not an easy process. With Eli it took only 3 months on medication to get pregnant, but this time around the same medication was not working and after almost a year I was still without child. (Is that a phrase? I doubt it.) So I started taking an additional medication and we were thrilled when it worked the first month. Perhaps by now you have caught on to the fact that I'm using past tense when referring to a pregnancy that, had all gone well, would now be 8 weeks along. But all did not go well. Just over a week ago I had some bleeding after playing volleyball. It was late when it happened so the next morning I called the doctor. They wanted to see me that day for an ultrasound.
