Navajo Pass

Last weekend Josh and I went backpacking at Navajo Pass. We left work early and arrived at the trailhead at 7:30PM. We hiked about 3 miles until it was dark enough that we had to set up camp. The next morning we hiked the rest of the way up to the pass and the view was awesome.


When we moved Seattle I couldn't get enough of the ultra-green, moss covered, fern infested forest, but it was kind of nice to see dirt and rocks that weren't covered in green. I still love the green but I miss the more 'Idaho-style' forest too.


This picture was pre-hike. We looked a lot more tired/dirty on the way out. It was really fun to spend a few days away from regular life. Sometimes I forget how much I love camping and hiking. But I remember now and we are certainly hoping to go on some more trips before the rains begin once again.

There were lots of things about our trip that I thoroughly enjoyed but spending that time with Josh made it even better. I sure do love that guy.

On our way down the mountain Josh asked if I would get in one of the a deep pools of water. I declined but we still managed to get a nice picture of one.

Island Park and Yellowstone

August began in Island Park, Idaho for a family reunion. We spent a few days in Yellowstone, went on a hike, floated a portion of the Henry's Fork of the Snake River, played volleyball, ate yummy food, and made memories. Eli still regularly mentions the cabin in Idaho and asks when we will be going back. The whole Mendenhall crew All of the cousins. Winter Wonderland 2017

I am nearly two years behind. I don't know at what point I should cut my losses and just skip to today but I really love some of the pictures from the last couple months of 2017. Our annual trip to the mountains for our Christmas tree was wonderful. The day was clear and beautiful and we had amazing views of Mt Rainier. It was a really spectacular day. Autumnal Happenings

Eli had preschool three days a week, so on his days off we would sometimes go on adventures together. One such adventure was a short hike up to Suntop Lookout. It was a gorgeous day, there was a bit of snow up there (which Eli enjoyed) and the view from the top was stunning. It was a great day with my little adventure buddy.  View from the top. Mt Rainier is in the distance. Us Grandma and Grandpa came to visit and Grandpa gave Eli a brief boxing lesson with oven mitts as boxing gloves. Halloween pumpkin carving.
