Barclay Lake

Josh started a new job the second week of May. After four years at Getty Images, he has moved on to T-Mobile. He is working as a contractor for them, but the job has the potential to be contract to hire. He is still learning the ropes but so far it's going well.

Josh had a few days between jobs and we took advantage of it by doing a hike to Barclay Lake. It is about 4.5 miles round trip to a nice lake at the base of Mount Baring. There were only a few other people on the trail, so we were able to enjoy some solitude.

Josh hid off the trail to "scare" us as we hiked by. Eli wanted a turn to hide and scare us. This is the hiding spot he chose...

A forest ranger was at the trailhead as we were beginning our hike and he mentioned that they had to clear 129 downed trees from the trail that spring. A huge wind storm came through over the winter and caused an incredible amount of downed trees throughout the whole area, but this trail was hit especially hard. This downed tree made a good bridge for Luna though.

Please welcome the newest member of our little family. Elijah Clayton Conley was born at 7:11 am on Saturday March 16th. He weighed in at 8 lbs 4 oz and was 20 inches long. Six months, Baby!

Eli celebrated his half birthday a few weeks ago. He had an exciting day going to the doctor's office and getting another round of vaccines. Ok, maybe exciting is the wrong word. Traumatic or terrible would be more appropriate. At his check he weighed 18 lbs 1.5 oz (65%) and was 26 3/4" tall (95%). It's hard for me to believe how big he is getting. The picture below was taken the day after his half birthday. At the time he would still topple over occasionally while sitting but in the last few weeks he has pretty much figured it out. Josh and I are enjoying his relative immobility. He rolls around but still can't go much further than a few feet. Hopefully we will have a few more weeks before he starts crawling. He isn't showing any signs of imminent crawling but he changes so quickly that it could happen sooner than I think. In other news, I started playing in a volleyball league last week. To Give Sorrow Words

One month ago I found out I was pregnant. This was exciting news for us because getting pregnant is not easy around here. I have PCOS which makes pharmaceutical intervention necessary and it is still not an easy process. With Eli it took only 3 months on medication to get pregnant, but this time around the same medication was not working and after almost a year I was still without child. (Is that a phrase? I doubt it.) So I started taking an additional medication and we were thrilled when it worked the first month. Perhaps by now you have caught on to the fact that I'm using past tense when referring to a pregnancy that, had all gone well, would now be 8 weeks along. But all did not go well. Just over a week ago I had some bleeding after playing volleyball. It was late when it happened so the next morning I called the doctor. They wanted to see me that day for an ultrasound.
