4 Months Old

Image
Eli is 4 months old today. He is 27" long (97th percentile) and weighs 16 lbs 1 oz (80th percentile). Hard to believe that in four months he gained over 7 pounds and grown 7 inches. Since most of the pictures I take of Eli are on my phone and are rarely viewed by anyone other than myself, I thought I would share some of them to commemorate 4 months of baby life. (Thanks to Josh for showing me how to get the pictures from my phone to the computer) The pictures are in backward chronological order, so he gets younger as they progress. Face Time Mmm, delicious! Big smiles Trying to sit up, but not doing so well Stern face With his great uncle David Picnic with daddy Starting to get better at tummy time! Handsome boys Late night smiles  First stroller ride without his carseat. Taking a walk in the baby carrier and sporting his hat for the first time. The shirt says it all! Eli is the first nephew on Josh's side o...

Franklin Falls and Boardman Lake

Image
Hiking with a wee little babe certainly makes things interesting. Our inaugural hike was to Franklin Falls. It is a short hike, only two miles round trip, to a nice but not particularly impressive waterfall. It may not have been the best waterfall I have seen, but it was a good opening hike for Eli. The Pants and Eli at Franklin Falls Our happy little family  The entire hike runs along this little stream. The week after Franklin Falls we decided to venture out again. This time we headed to Boardman Lake. Josh REALLY wanted to go fishing and this lake was supposed to have some fish. This hike was also 2 miles round trip. I think we will be sticking to shorter hikes for a while. Eli seems to enjoy being packed around in the baby carrier but until we know he can handle a longer hike we will keep them to just a few miles.  Shortly after arriving at the lake we tried to find a spot to fish that had an area where Eli and I could hang out. The first spot we t...

Road Trip!

Image
Wednesday May 22 10 am: I text Josh asking if he would be up to driving to Emmett to visit my parents over Memorial Day weekend. He says "yes." 10:30 am: I call my parents to see if they would be up for visitors. They say "yes." 11 am-5 pm: Do laundry, shop for essential road trip snacks, pick up our wedding rings from jeweler (they were being cleaned), and pack for 2 adults and 1 baby for a 6 day trip.  5 pm: Take Dan, Ashley and their girls to the airport so they can catch their flight to California.  6:20 pm: Finally roll out of Seattle and begin the 480 mile drive 7:30 pm: Get stopped on the freeway for "blasting" in a construction zone.  8:20 pm: Finally start driving again 8:20 pm - 4 am: Driving (one stop for dinner, one stop for gas/driver switch) 4 am: Roll into my parent's house. Before my initial text to Josh we had not discussed going to Emmett for Memorial Day. We were planning a camping trip and had b...

Doctors and Soccer

Image
As difficult as it is to believe, our little baby had his 2 month check earlier this month (I began this post when it was still May). He passed the 2 foot mark (24 3/4", which is 97%) and weighs nearly 13 pounds (12 lbs 13 oz, 75%). He sure is a growing boy! Sadly, this check also brought his first round of vaccines, 5 in total. One was a drink and he had two shots in each thigh. He took it like a champ and barely even cried. We sure love our little man. The day after his doctor's visit we went to a Sounders game. Josh got tickets from work (box seats!) and Josh, Eli, Uncle Dan, and I all went to the game. From what I saw, it was a great game. Elijah had a bit of a rough go during the first half so neither Josh nor I saw much of it, but we got to watch the second half (Eli was asleep) and it was fantastic. The fist half was probably one of the worst crying fits Eli has ever had. It was absolutely terrible and I'm still not sure exactly what was wrong. It may have been a ...

It's a Blessing

Image
Eli's baby blessing took place a few weeks ago. In total we had 21 of our family members who were able to come and it was absolutely wonderful to have them there. I was worried the little man would cry during the blessing but he didn't make a peep. And he waited until the ride home before having an exploding poo all over his blessing outfit. Good going little man! For me, the best part of the weekend was having four of Eli's great grandparents there. I love that Eli has so many of his great grandparents who are still alive and kicking. We plan on having them around for years to come, but it sure meant a lot to have them there. The Conley Family (minus Jereme and Christy. We missed you guys!) The Mendenhall Family, plus one Walker Grandma (missing Scott and Anita) This is the best picture we have of The Pants, Eli, and I. By this point Eli was quite unhappy and I was more interested in going back inside than getting a good picture. Four generations of M...

Two Weeks Old

Image
Eli had his two week check-up on Friday and he seems to be doing pretty well. He grew almost 2 inches and gained 11 oz. He lost 4 ounces after birth so the 11 ounce weight gain is based on that lower weight, not on his birth weight. So he is now 21 and 3/4" long (90th percentile) and 8 lbs 11.5 oz (55th percentile). Going to the doctor's office tuckered him out

It's a Birthday!

Image
Please welcome the newest member of our little family. Elijah Clayton Conley was born at 7:11 am on Saturday March 16th. He weighed in at 8 lbs 4 oz and was 20 inches long. This little man won us over with his first little cries and we are loving him more and more each day. For those of you who are interested in how it went down, the narrative is below the pictures. Just after birth. Cleaning out his mouth and lungs. First snuggles with his Mama Showing off his little chin dimple Just about the cutest thing I've ever seen First family photo Meeting Uncle Dan and Aunt Ashley for the first time Proud Papa Going home! Lounging with his daddy On Friday afternoon (the day after my due date) I started having contractions that were fairly regular but far apart and not at all painful. I hoped that this was the beginning of something but wasn't really sure. Josh's mom flew into town that evening so we picked her up and then went ou...
